Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education publishes one fee schedule covering one-time review fees, a reaccreditation fee and five annual fee tiers. This page sets out that schedule as it read when we opened it, with the figures taken from the accreditor's own fees page. It concerns the continuing education program run by ACCME, ACPE and ANCC, and it has nothing to do with The Joint Commission, which is a different organization with its own fees.
Last reviewed: October 2026.
What Joint Accreditation publishes and where
The accreditor posts its fees on one page, headed with an effective date of February 1, 2026 (Joint Accreditation, Fees, page opened October 3, 2026). Two other pages tell you when particular fees go in: the Accreditation Timeline and the Reaccreditation Process page (both opened October 3, 2026). The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, one of the three accreditors that manage the program, is the payee. Quote the invoice number when paying, and look to the invoice for instructions. Card and ACH are the routes the page favors. Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
The fee schedule, effective February 1, 2026
| Fee | Amount | When the sources tie it to a step |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility Review | $2,500 | Paid with the Intent to Apply on the cycle start date. Non-refundable. |
| Initial Application | $27,000 | IHS's reading, October 3, 2026: the timeline's Application Fee is this fee. It is paid with the activity list, ahead of the self-study, and the timeline marks it non-refundable. |
| Reaccreditation | $6,000 | Paid when the Intent to Re-Apply is filed, a year ahead of the term's end. |
| Progress Report | $2,500 | The schedule gives no trigger. |
| Extension Fee | $2,500 | The schedule gives no trigger. |
| Profession Addition Fee | $1,500 ($1,600 starting January 1, 2027) | The schedule gives no trigger. |
Annual fees depend on tier. The same schedule lists a 2026 fee and a 2027 fee for each tier, and within every tier the two are equal.
| Tier | Total activities, 2022 to 2024 | Total learner interactions, 2022 to 2024 | 2026 annual fee | 2027 annual fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 159 or fewer | 22,343 or fewer | $26,500 | $26,500 |
| Tier 2 | 160 to 588 | 22,344 to 93,092 | $28,000 | $28,000 |
| Tier 3 | 589 to 1,408 | 93,093 to 272,054 | $29,500 | $29,500 |
| Tier 4 | 1,409 to 3,767 | 272,055 to 998,119 | $32,000 | $32,000 |
| Tier 5 | More than 3,767 | More than 998,119 | $39,000 | $39,000 |

How the fee structure works
There are three kinds of charge. The first is a pair of one-time fees for a first-time applicant: a review of eligibility, then the application itself. They fall at different points in a cycle: the first with your intent to apply, the second with your list of activities. The timeline page marks both as non-refundable, though it calls the second one the Application Fee.
The second is the annual fee, which is the largest recurring item. It rests on the volume of education you ran in the three years the schedule names, counted two ways: activities and learner interactions. The schedule uses the same 2022 through 2024 window for both 2026 and 2027.
The third group is event-driven: reaccreditation, a progress report, an extension and the addition of a profession. Only reaccreditation has a stated timing. For the other three, the schedule gives an amount and nothing more.
What the schedule does not include
- It gives no figure for travel, expedited handling or reconsideration of a decision. We did not find any of those on the pages we opened.
- It does not say when the Progress Report, Extension or Profession Addition fees are charged, or what counts as each event.
- It does not say who assigns your tier, or what happens when your activity count and your learner-interaction count point to different tiers.
- It does not say whether the annual fee is charged during an initial review. The pages we opened do not address it.
- It does not say whether a program seeking reaccreditation also pays the Initial Application fee. The timeline's Application Fee row is not split between first-time and reaccrediting applicants.
- It does not cover your own costs, such as staff time, systems or outside help. The reaccreditation page says Joint Accreditation does not require consultants.
Reading the schedule
These are arithmetic on the published figures, not a quote and not an estimate of any bill. Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
- The two one-time fees for a first-time applicant add to $29,500 ($2,500 plus $27,000), before any annual fee.
- Reaccreditation at $6,000 is $21,000 below the initial application fee, which is 4.5 times as large.
- Tier 5 costs $12,500 more per year than Tier 1. The steps between tiers are $1,500, $1,500, $2,500 and $7,000, so most of the spread sits in the move from Tier 4 to Tier 5.
- Because each tier's 2026 and 2027 annual fees match, two years at Tier 1 add to $53,000 and at Tier 5 to $78,000.
- Tier widths on the activity measure are uneven: Tier 2 spans 429 activities, Tier 3 spans 820 and Tier 4 spans 2,359. If the activity count is the measure that controls, the line between 159 and 160 activities is a $1,500 a year step. The page does not say which count controls.
- The Profession Addition Fee rises by $100 on January 1, 2027, about 6.7 percent.
Where this fits
This page covers only what the accreditor charges. For eligibility, the criteria, the application cycles and how IHS prepares the evidence, see the parent page, Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education consulting.
What this is not
- It is not the accreditor's text. The figures come from the pages linked above, and the wording is ours.
- It is not IHS pricing. IHS scopes each engagement after a free introductory call.
- IHS does not set, collect or pass through Joint Accreditation fees. Your organization pays the accreditor and files its own application.
- It is not a quote of what your organization will owe. Which rows apply to you depends on your own facts.
Frequently asked questions
Is Joint Accreditation the same as The Joint Commission?
No. Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education is a separate program for continuing education providers, run jointly by ACCME, ACPE and ANCC. The Joint Commission is a different organization, and its fees are not on this page.
Who do we pay Joint Accreditation fees to?
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, one of the three accreditors that manage the program, is the payee. Due dates follow the cycle deadlines. Quote the invoice number when paying and use the invoice for instructions, since card and ACH are the favored routes (page opened October 3, 2026). Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
How much is the Joint Accreditation initial application fee?
The schedule effective February 1, 2026 lists $27,000 for the Initial Application and $2,500 for the Eligibility Review. The timeline page marks the Eligibility Review Fee and the Application Fee as non-refundable, and IHS's reading, October 3, 2026, is that the Application Fee is the Initial Application fee (page opened October 3, 2026). Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
How is the annual fee set?
The schedule places an organization in one of five tiers using its total activities and total learner interactions for 2022 through 2024. Each tier's 2027 fee equals its 2026 fee, and the tiers run from $26,500 for Tier 1 to $39,000 for Tier 5 (page opened October 3, 2026). Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation. The page does not say which count controls when the two measures fall in different tiers, so ask Joint Accreditation.
Will the fees change?
The only dated change on the schedule is the Profession Addition Fee, which goes from $1,500 to $1,600 on January 1, 2027 (page opened October 3, 2026). Beyond that, the accreditor says other revisions are possible, that it posts them on the fees page and that accredited organizations also hear by email. Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
What does reaccreditation cost?
The schedule effective February 1, 2026 lists $6,000 for Reaccreditation. It is paid at the first filing of a reaccreditation, the Intent to Re-Apply, a year before the term ends (page opened October 3, 2026). The pages we opened do not say whether the annual fee also applies in reaccreditation years. Verify current fees with Joint Accreditation.
Does the fee schedule say when the Progress Report, Extension or Profession Addition fees are charged?
The schedule lists each at its amount and does not state what triggers it or when it falls due. Ask Joint Accreditation before budgeting for any of the three. The same goes for whether the annual fee applies during your first review, which the pages we opened do not address.
Does IHS charge for Joint Accreditation application fees or collect them?
No. The fees go to the accreditor. IHS does not set, collect or pass through Joint Accreditation fees, and your organization submits its own application. IHS scopes each engagement after a free introductory call.
