URAC reported on September 29, 2026 that the U.S. Department of Labor "…has issued new guidance outlining where it will focus enforcement of federal mental health parity requirements." URAC wrote that the guidance highlights three areas: "…exclusions that limit access to treatment; medical necessity and review processes, including prior authorization and utilization review; and network adequacy, including how providers are admitted to networks and reimbursed." CMS finalized the Global Benchmark for Efficient Drug Pricing (GLOBE) Model, "…a new mandatory Medicare payment model under section 1115A of the Social Security Act." CMS states the model will operate from January 1, 2027 to March 31, 2032. It will apply to "…Medicare beneficiaries who reside in a randomly selected subset of geographic areas, encompassing approximately 25% of total Medicare beneficiaries who have Original Medicare as their primary coverage."
