ASHP publishes one fee schedule for pharmacy residency accreditation, and it prices by how many residency programs sit at a primary practice site. The number of resident positions does not set the price. The figures below come from the schedule's 2026 and 2027 columns, which ASHP marks effective July 20, 2026 (ASHP Residency Accreditation Fee Schedule, page opened October 3, 2026). What ASHP publishes and where
The schedule is a three-page PDF issued by ASHP's accreditation services office. It carries the fee figures, the billing terms, two numbered tables and a note on reporting program changes. Every ASHP figure on this page was read from that PDF on October 3, 2026. ASHP can change the figures each year, so the PDF is the record.
The fee tables

Annual assessment by program count (the schedule's Table 1)
The row is the number of residency programs your organization runs at one primary practice site. The amount is the annual assessment for that site. The last column is arithmetic on the published figures: the 2027 amount minus the 2026 amount.
| Programs at the site | 2026 | 2027 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $5,000 | $5,150 | $150 |
| 2 | $6,350 | $6,550 | $200 |
| 3 | $7,425 | $7,650 | $225 |
| 4 | $8,150 | $8,400 | $250 |
| 5 | $8,700 | $8,975 | $275 |
| 6 | $9,225 | $9,500 | $275 |
| 7 | $9,700 | $10,000 | $300 |
| 8 | $10,050 | $10,375 | $325 |
| 9 | $10,400 | $10,725 | $325 |
| 10 | $10,725 | $11,050 | $325 |
| 11 | $11,025 | $11,375 | $350 |
| 12 | $11,350 | $11,700 | $350 |
| 13 | $11,650 | $12,025 | $375 |
| 14 | $11,950 | $12,325 | $375 |
| 15 | $12,275 | $12,625 | $350 |
| 16 | $12,500 | $12,900 | $400 |
| 17 | $12,800 | $13,175 | $375 |
| 18 | $13,100 | $13,450 | $350 |
| 19 | $13,400 | $13,725 | $325 |
| 20 | $13,700 | $14,000 | $300 |
The initial application fee for a new program is $1,600 per residency program in 2026 and $1,650 in 2027, separate from the annual assessment.
Multi-site community residencies run by a college (the schedule's Table 2)
This table serves one arrangement: a college of pharmacy that operates a first-year community pharmacy residency across several primary practice sites. Each amount is stated per primary practice site. Rows run from 2 to 15 sites.
| Primary practice sites | 2026 | 2027 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $5,475 | $5,900 | $425 |
| 3 | $6,400 | $6,650 | $250 |
| 4 | $7,125 | $7,350 | $225 |
| 5 | $7,825 | $8,050 | $225 |
| 6 | $8,550 | $8,750 | $200 |
| 7 | $9,275 | $9,450 | $175 |
| 8 | $9,500 | $9,950 | $450 |
| 9 | $10,000 | $10,450 | $450 |
| 10 | $10,500 | $10,950 | $450 |
| 11 | $11,000 | $11,450 | $450 |
| 12 | $11,500 | $11,950 | $450 |
| 13 | $12,000 | $12,450 | $450 |
| 14 | $12,500 | $12,950 | $450 |
| 15 | $13,000 | $13,450 | $450 |
A college that runs multi-site community residencies alongside other residency types is priced differently. Its programs are counted in Table 1, and each extra primary practice site in the community residency adds $500.
Pre-candidate programs
The tables above do not apply to a program in pre-candidate status. That program is billed an application fee and an annual fee instead, and in the first year the annual fee is reduced according to the date the application arrives.
| Year | Application fee | Annual fee |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | $1,600 | $4,025 |
| 2027 | $1,650 | $4,150 |
How the fee structure works
- The invoice turns on one count: programs under an ASHP organization ID at a single primary practice site. ASHP says resident positions and participating sites are not part of the calculation.
- Assessments follow the calendar year. The invoice for the coming year goes out in November, and the due date is 30 days after it is received.
- A new program's first-year bill is a fraction of the annual rate, set by the date ASHP receives its application. The schedule gives two examples: an April application is billed three-fourths of the rate and a June application one-half.
- The application fee is charged once per new program. The invoice follows approval of the application and completion of the program's entry in ASHP's database, and it is due 30 days after receipt.
- Each organization ID has one billing contact who receives the invoice by email. ASHP asks program directors to keep that person's details current in its accreditation database. The contact is meant to be a named person tied to the residency, so a shared inbox does not fit.
What the schedule does not include
- International programs. No figures appear for them. The schedule sends them to ASHP's accreditation services office for rates.
- A separate survey charge. ASHP says the annual assessment already pays for surveys, so a survey year carries no extra bill.
- Refunds. The schedule says annual assessments and application fees are nonrefundable.
- Anything beyond ASHP's own accreditation fees. The schedule is silent on staff time, preceptor development, software and Match participation costs, so budget for those from other sources.
Reading the schedule
This section is arithmetic on the published figures. It is not a quote or estimate of any bill, and ASHP decides which row applies to your organization. Verify current fees with ASHP.
- Dividing each 2027 Table 1 amount by its program count, the cost per program falls quickly. One program at a site carries $5,150, four programs average $2,100 each, ten average $1,105 each, and twenty average $700 each.
- A single-program site's 2027 assessment is $5,150, up $150 from 2026. The 2027 assessment for twenty programs is up $300.
- A program billed at the pre-candidate rate that applies in April, using the schedule's three-fourths example, would be invoiced $3,112.50 of the 2027 annual fee ($4,150 x 3/4) plus the $1,650 application fee. The 2026 equivalent is $3,018.75 ($4,025 x 3/4) plus $1,600. Applying the schedule's proration examples to the pre-candidate fee is IHS's reading as of October 3, 2026. The schedule does not say which year's rate governs a given application, and ASHP decides what a specific program owes.
- Table 2 amounts are stated per primary practice site. IHS's reading, as of October 3, 2026, is that each amount applies to every site, which would make three sites at the 2027 rate 3 x $6,650, or $19,950. That total is IHS's arithmetic and not an ASHP figure, because the schedule shows no total for these rows. A college that needs the total can ask ASHP which reading applies.
Where this fits
Fees are one piece of the decision. The parent page, ASHP pharmacy residency accreditation consulting, covers the status path from pre-candidate to candidate to accreditation, the dates that trigger each step, and what to have ready before the site survey.
What this is not
- This page is not a quote of ASHP's schedule or a bill estimate. Your invoice comes from ASHP.
- These are ASHP's fees, not IHS pricing. IHS does not set or collect accreditor fees. IHS scopes each engagement after a free introductory call.
- IHS does not submit anything to ASHP or speak with ASHP for you. IHS drafts, and your organization submits.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the ASHP annual accreditation assessment for one residency program?
The schedule lists $5,000 for 2026 and $5,150 for 2027 for one program at a primary practice site. The figure rises with the number of programs at the site, up to $14,000 in 2027 for twenty programs. Verify current fees with ASHP.
Do ASHP fees depend on how many residents we have?
No. ASHP says the invoice turns on how many residency programs an organization has under one organization ID at a primary practice site. Resident positions and participating sites are not part of the count. The count of programs sets the row.
When does ASHP invoice the annual assessment?
The invoice goes out in November for the following calendar year and is due 30 days after it is received. A new program's annual rate for its first calendar year is prorated from the date ASHP receives the application.
Is there a separate fee for the accreditation site survey?
No separate survey fee appears in the schedule. ASHP says the annual assessment already covers survey costs, so a survey year carries no extra bill.
What does a pre-candidate program pay?
Pre-candidate programs sit outside the two fee tables. For 2027 the schedule shows a $1,650 application fee and a $4,150 annual fee, and for 2026 it shows $1,600 and $4,025. The first-year annual fee is prorated by application date.
Which table applies to a college of pharmacy that sponsors a community residency?
Table 2 is for a college that runs a PGY1 community residency across more than one primary practice site. A college that also runs other residency types counts its programs in Table 1 and adds $500 for each extra primary practice site in the community residency.
Can we get a refund if we withdraw or are not accredited?
The schedule says annual assessments and application fees are nonrefundable and does not describe any exception. Ask ASHP how it treats a specific situation.
What are the fees for international programs?
The schedule gives no figures for international programs. It sends them to ASHP's accreditation services office.
