URAC Wellness Standard 1 -- Scope of Wellness Program
This standard provides:
The wellness organization establishes and implements policies, procedures, and documentation that at a minimum: (---)
(a) Define the scope of its program, including: (M)
(i) The risk-type(s) associated with its wellness program(s); (M)
(ii) The program interventions; and (M)
(iii) Successful program completion; and (M)
(b) Define the expected outcomes from its program interventions. (M)
URAC envisions that applicants would submit detailed documentation to demonstrate compliance with this standard. This documentation likely should be presented in various forms, both internal policies and procedures as well as program descriptions, and consumer-facing marketing and educational materials.
This is a typical first standard for a URAC module, in that it requires broad and detailed program descriptions that will be used by URAC reviewers to get them oriented to the structure and nature of the program under review. The onsite review portion for this standard is likely to be limited to a cursory examination of the program documents already submitted on desktop review and an interview of the relevant staff members to ensure that they understand and implement the program as described in those documents.
